One final Halloween outing for my Cordyceps-infected Stormtrooper tee. Apparently Star Wars and fungal zombies belong together.

Behind the drawing
A Stormtrooper having a particularly bad day.
I originally drew this while watching The Last of Us. The infected reminded me of the old Star Wars: Death Troopers novel, and apparently my brain decided the two belonged together.
The fun part was keeping it clean enough to work on a shirt without losing the ridiculous amount of detail I usually cram into my drawings.
From a distance, it’s a black-and-white Stormtrooper graphic. Get closer and things start going wrong. Cordyceps breaks through the helmet and armour, and the character pushes outside the frame. That last part is probably my favourite bit.

220 GSM, 100% combed cotton. Relaxed fit, crew neck and preshrunk to minimise shrinkage.

Printed in Queenstown
A local printer and a lot of linework.
I worked with a small local printer here in Queenstown, Aotearoa, to produce the original run using water-based inks.
They have a lower chemical and plastic footprint than many conventional printing methods, and the print feels part of the fabric rather than a thick plastic layer sitting on top. It should soften and wear with the shirt over time.
These were considerably more expensive and time-consuming to make this way. A fairly ambitious choice for my first attempt at shirts, but they turned out how I wanted them.

If you’d rather have this trooper on your wall than on your back, I’m also releasing the artwork as a numbered edition of just 20 prints. There’s a ridiculous amount of detail tucked into that armour, and I’d love to see it get a proper spot in your art collection.

Printed on Ilford Galerie Textured Cotton 310gsm by a local Newcastle art gallery. Each print comes unframed, carefully hand-wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and sent in a recycled envelope from Queenstown.

Keep your print wrapped until you’re ready to frame it. The paper is delicate and doesn’t get along with dirty fingers.
Estimated postage: 3–5 business days for Australia and New Zealand, and 14–21 business days internationally. Arrival dates aren’t guaranteed. Shipping is calculated at checkout.

$70 AUD per shirt, plus shipping. Sizes S, M, L, XL and 2XL will be offered in the release, with limited quantities in each size.
21 shirts are allocated to this release. Early access doesn’t reserve a shirt, and sizes may sell out before public release.
